Primary school pupils across the borough will be hoping for home advantage when the summer leg of South Yorkshire School Games takes place at the Keepmoat Stadium in July.

Youngsters from Bentley High Street (pictured), Shaw Wood, Kirk Sandall, Campsmount, Balby Carr, Tranmoor, Hilltop, Hall Cross and Ridgewood recently took part in the winter Games at EIS, Sheffield.

Tranmoor claimed the town’s solitary gold medal in the Y5/6 gymnastics but organisers are hoping for more success at the Keepmoat.

Active Fusion’s Andy Lockwood, Doncaster School Games Organiser, said: “The strength in depth of school sport in Doncaster is clear to see through the superb performances at this year’s games.

“The summer games provides an exciting opportunity for all of our schools. It will be the first time the games will be hosted in Doncaster and as such we hope to provide a strong team to bring home lots of medals.”
