Major Jack is becoming expensive to follow but can be given one more chance in the Scoop6soccer Handicap at Chelmsford.

There may be only £20,000 on offer, but a very competitive 14-runner field has been assembled.

While there are several multiple winners in the field, Roger Charlton’s Major Jack is surely one of very few capable of bettering their current mark.

The four-year-old is one of those animals that seems to thrive on running through horses, but on his penultimate outing at Newcastle the hold-up tactics backfired.

George Baker was continually denied a clear run inside the final furlong and when he finally did get some room he flew, finishing fifth, beaten less than two lengths by the smart Bushcraft.

That race has worked out incredibly well with the fourth, Tanzeel, winning a big pot at York and Kimberella, down the field, finishing second in the Great St Wilfrid at the weekend.

The likes of Shore Step and Barnet Fair went on to run well at Goodwood so it was disappointing Major Jack did not feature better than 14th in the Stewards’ Cup consolation race, but he was away from the pace and that race is working out well with Mubtaghaa winning a big pot on Saturday.

One day it will all drop right and in lesser company this could be the time.

Field Of Vision will surely open his account in the Barking Brickwork Limited And E.E.B.A. Maiden Stakes .

Joseph Tuite’s youngster outran his odds massively in the Super Sprint at Newbury when third of 22 having been placed in four small maidens previously.

He was not disgraced at all when upped in class for the Molecomb at Goodwood, beaten six length by Kachy into seventh of the 10.

This is much easier and he is drawn well to strike.

Chancery likes the ups and downs of Ripon and can add the Attheraces.com City of Ripon Handicap to his record.
