KEVIN Phillipson made a fantastic start to 2011 at Thornhurst by completing a weekend double.

He won first Saturday medal of the year after a round of 81-14=67 and followed that up with 40 points on the Sunday to claim victory in the Stableford.

Runner up John Selby (83-14=69) was followed by third placed Gary North (83-14=69) on the Saturday.

Selby’s 38 points also saw him clam third spot the following day, behind Ian Aichison (39).

Selby continued his good form by winning the Saturday Stableford a week later.

His total of 46 points eclipsed runner up Bocker Stephens (42) and Norman Collier (41).

The Sunday Medal was won by Enoch Walker after a round of 87-21=66.

Runner up John Sandham (84-17=67) was followed by Paul Phillips (82-12=70).

At Town Moor Stuart Morris took the honours in January’s penultimate Saturday Stableford, with 41 points.

Second placed Roger Greenwood and John Brewer, in third, had to be separated on countback after tallying 39.

In a closely fought Better Ball Stableford the next day the top three pairs on the leaderboard all tied on 45 points and were separated only by better back nines.

Winners J Pickersgill and B Jinks got the better of R Scaife and D Arrand in second and third placed T Taylor and J Nichol.
