Hatfield’s Brad Rickaby will be taking on the cream of the crop at this weekend’s International Jetsport Grand Prix at Lakeside.
And Rickaby, who currently leads the British Championships Runabout GP class, is looking forward to pitting his wits against the world’s best riders.
“I’m confident, even though I’m working on a shoestring budget compared to some of the others,” said Rickaby.
“Some of the teams competing this weekend have million pound budgets.
“It’s a tough line-up but I’m leading the pro GP standings at the minute. I’ll be happy with top five but obviously I’ll be going all out for the win.”
Rickaby has won British and European titles and became a world champion in Arizona at the age of just 18 in 2011.
Having claimed a European title on home soil last year, he says preparations for this weekend’s prestigious event are going well.
“I’m confident I can push all the way because my fitness is good and training has gone well,” he said.
“The decisive race will be on Sunday and hopefully there will be a big crowd. I’ll have lots of family down there for support.”
The International Jetsport Grand Prix runs from today until Sunday at Lakeside, described by governing body JSRA as “the new spiritual home of UK jetski racing”.
