The boxers of Round One Gym in Brodsworth received a boost when world title chasing Jamie McDonnell dropped in.

McDonnell paid a visit to the gym along with Kevin Sanders who formerly trained Nigel Benn and Frank Bruno.

Both men passed on their wisdom and put some of the young fighters through their paces.

And it proved an enjoyable experience according to Round One head trainer Kev Burton.

He said: “It was a real boost for the lads just to have Jamie come down, they really appreciated it.

“They all couldn’t believe how down to earth he was and he took his time to talk to everyone.

“It was great to have someone like Kevin come down as well and he seemed to be really impressed with the lads.”

Round One has been in operation for more than a year and has gathered fighters from across Doncaster.

Nine of the 12 bouts fought by boxers at the gym have been won while fighters Carl Spencer and Ben Bradford have recently signed pro forms.
