It’s going to the wire at Doncaster Hockey Club this season - for both the men and women.

The Town Field men are still on course to bounce back to the National League at the first time of asking.

Richard Thomas’s side have led the way in the North Hockey League virtually from day one.

But a 5-3 defeat at third placed Preston at the weekend allowed second placed Oxton to close the gap at the top to four points with just four games remaining.

Doncaster host Timperley on Saturday (2pm).

Meanwhile, Doncaster’s ladies face an uphill task to stay in the National League.

They ended a ten-game losing streak with a 3-3 draw against Stourport earlier this month but a 4-2 loss at University of Durham at the weekend leaves them with it all to do.

Doncaster, who host Whitley Bay and Tynemouth on Saturday (12pm), are four points adrift at the bottom of Conference North with five games remaining.
