Nearly 100 children worked on their swing during free golfing lessons which were held in a bid to drive more young people into taking up the sport.

Thorne-based sports provider Xcite Sports & Fitness teamed up with Wheatley Golf Club to offer sessions to scores of youngsters which included a special coaching class with PGA coach Aaron Hodkin.

The sessions, based at Wheatley Golf Club, were held as part of the Kids2Clubs scheme - a new initiative launched by Xcite Sports & Fitness this year which aims to encourage children to lead healthy, active lifestyles through sport.

Doncaster Athletic Club and Doncaster Hockey Club have also been involved this year.

Xcite Sports & Fitness are interested in hearing from other clubs wanting to get involved in the Kids2Clubs scheme.

Anyone interested should contact James O’Neill on 07851046611 or james@xcitesportsandfitness.org.
