KELLY Bramhald flew the flag in style by securing South Yorkshire’s only gold medal at the Aviva English Schools Track and Field Championships.

The Hall Cross pupil landed gold in the javelin with her 46.45m throw at the Gateshead International Stadium.

The 18-year-old soared to victory in her final appearance at the championships following six previous visits where seventh place was her best finish.

Two athletes returned to Doncaster with silver medals.

Ridgewood School’s Aiden Davies claimed silver in the 400m intermediate hurdles with Danum Technology College’s Beth Dobbin second in the senior 200m in a new personal best time of 24.7s.
