Danum Eagles Under 14s have completed their league season with a record of 15 wins from 16 games to win a place in the play-offs for the first time.
They clinched the North East Premier Conference title with a victory over Hartlepool Heat while local rivals Sheffield Sharks had to settle for second spot after a surprise loss.
Conner Pugh and Liam Knapp led the way, combining for 76 points, as the top placed Eagles jumped out early and routed Hartlepool 106-71 in the final league clash.
Danum led 61-36 at the half way mark and, although the Eagles had trouble containing Hartlepool’s Ryan Mackenzie, they still managed to extend their advantage following Pugh’s 34 point blitz over the first two periods.
Eagles ran away with the game after the interval preventing any type of momentum from Hartlepool while, at the same time, maintaining a lead of over 30 points.
Pugh scored 40, and Knapp 36 with Aneil Sanghera also in double figures.
Danum host Trafford in the first round of the play-offs on the March 26 (3.30pm) at Danum School.
n Danum Eagles Under 18s finished the season with a 16-5 record as runners up in the Midlands I Conference behind the undefeated Derby Trailblazers.
The Under 18s squad play their first round play-off match away against Shropshire Warriors - the Midlands II winners.
