Doncaster Danum Eagles continued their 100 per cent start to their maiden Division Three season, with a 89-56 victory over Tees Valley Mohawks.

To make the win all the more impressive, the Eagles were missing three key players in Liam Knapp, Arron Price and Robin Hewson.

Eagles now boast a 6-0 record and sit top of the Division Three table, alongside Team Newcastle University - with the two sides scheduled to meet in the north east later this month.

Doncaster, aiming to put together some strong performances together to lead into the unbeaten clash at the end of the month, came out on fire and quickly jumped out to a 15-2 lead against the Mohawks, with some exceptional defence and patient offence.

Tom Hodson found heaps of space close to the hoop thanks to some pretty ball movement by the Eagles, and he finished the first quarter with ten points to give the South Yorkshire side a 27-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The Eagles extended their lead at the halfway stage to 21 points, leading 46-25, and the Mohawks were restricted to just seven points in the whole of the third quarter as the Eagles looked to close out the game.

In a quarter of long misses and turnovers from the Mohawks, Eagles raced the other way for some easy fast break scores, with Hylands (21 points) adding the first nine of the half. Once again with extra playing time, Brandon Roy nailed a three pointer and followed it up with a huge and one play to extend the Eagles’ lead to 41 points with just ten minutes to play.

Coach Ross Stafford rotated the team and gave the bench some extended time with Valencik scoring his first bucket of the season.

But Mohwaks exposed the lack of experience by making a 14-0 run to bring them to as close as 28 points.

The run was not enough, though, and Eagles walked away with an 89-56 victory.

Doncaster return home this Saturday against Derby Trailblazers II (2pm at Danum Academy Lower School).
