We are gearing up for another big afternoon of racing on Sunday with our Family Fun Day.

Of course, Sunday is also Father’s Day and we are pushing the ethos of families coming out and having a big day out.

For the kids, Peppa Pig will be making double the appearances she made at last year’s meeting, so there is no excuse for the kids to miss her!

There are lots of stalls across all enclosures including a Retired Greyhounds Trust stand where you can meet, stroke and get your photo taken with these amazing dogs.

In the Lazarus Exhibition Hall, the Northern Racing College are setting up an Equicizer for any budding Tony McCoys and Paul Hanagans who can have a go on a realistic mechanical horse which is widely used in jockey training across British racing.

As for the parents, there are currently seven races programmed to start at 2.30pm and end at 5.45pm.

Royal Ascot is not far away now, beginning on June 18 with the Queen Anne stakes.

Animal Kingdom is coming over to run for American-based Brit Graham Motion.

He has won two of the world’s most famous races, the Kentucky Derby and the Dubai World Cup, which was the last time he raced in March.

He will be racing over a straight mile for the first time ever and has also done most of his winning at a mile-and-a-quarter. Jonny Velazquez will be in the saddle.

The British challenge focuses around Farhh for Godolphin and Saeed Bin Suroor.

The colt hacked up in the Lockinge at Newbury on his seasonal reappearance and last season he kept running into Frankel, and there is no disgrace in that.

It will be an intriguing match-up and a fitting way to start the Royal meeting.

Here at Doncaster, we are hoping for a bold show from Times Up in the Ascot Gold Cup, who of course lifted the Doncaster Cup at the Ladbrokes St Leger meeting last September for the now retired John Dunlop.

Now trained by his son Ed in Newmarket, he has got a run under his belt and will be tuned to the minute to hopefully lift this hugely prestigious race.

Meanwhile, away from the pomp and glamour of Royal Ascot, our Family Fun Day will bring you the opposite end of the horse racing spectrum with an exciting day of fun for all the family.

Our all-new Kids Club, Young Hooves, is just for your little ones (and you) who love the sport.

You can become a member of the Young Hooves for FREE. Look out for the Young Hooves team on Family Fun Day or head to www.younghooves.co.uk.
