Top of the table Doncaster maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 win at Neston South Wirral Ladies.

Bexx Woods scored twice and Verity Blyth was also on target as the promotion-chasing Town Field club continued their excellent start in the Northern Premier Division.

Neston were happy to sit back, soak up pressure and try and hit Doncaster on the break.

Despite the visitors dominating the game it was not until just before half time that they scored two quick goals courtesy of Woods and Blyth.

The second half continued in a similar pattern and some good work along the baseline by Christy Martin created the chance for Woods to score her second.

Doncaster, battling to regain their National League status, are level on points with Leeds Ladies but lead the way by virtue of a better goal difference. They host Kendal on Saturday (noon).

n Doncaster’s men gained a hard earned point in their latest EHL North Conference fixture at Deeside Ramblers.

Although Doncaster made much of the early running they found Tom Marshall in the home goal in resolute mood, repelling good shots from Josh Netherwood and Dan West in the opening exchanges.

Gradually Deeside began to find their feet and ex-Pakistan international Ali Ghafanzar was his usual reliable self from their first and only penalty corner of the game, firing low past Ashley Watson.

Doncaster pressed for an equaliser and with ten minutes remaining Jonny Powell crossed from the left and Josh Oades was on hand to deflect the ball home.

Olton are the visitors to Town Fields on Saturday (2pm).

n Doncaster juniors Annabel Bennett, Matt White and Zak Jolly (pictured above) have been selected for England’s U16 training camp at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

“This is fantastic news for the players themselves and for the club as a whole, as it shows that we are producing players who are competing at the very highest level,” said club spokesperson Jo West.
