Doncaster’s Barry Middleton will once again captain the England Men’s Hockey squad as they hunt for medals at the Commonwealth Games.
The former Hall Cross School pupil has been named in the 16-man squad for the Glasgow Games which start next month.
Middleton said: “I’m really excited for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and it’s nice to have another major tournament so close to home.
“Multi-sport events have a different feel to a normal hockey event and there’s always a great atmosphere.
“I’m proud to be part of Team England and we are aiming to be one of the success stories of the games.”
Middleton recently became England and Great Britain’s most capped player of all time.
England are looking to improve on their fourth placed finishes at the last two Commonwealth Games. They also finished fourth at the World Cup earlier this month.
