SLALOM canoeist Samuel Ibbotson is on the fast track to success after landing a £2,000 bursary from Jaguar’s Academy of Sport.

Jaguar handed out awards to 50 of the country’s most talented up-and-coming sports stars at a ceremony in Henley-on-Thames.

Fourteen-year-old Samuel, of Sprotbrough, met Sir Steve Redgrave and Dame Kelly Holmes at the prestigious Rising Stars Day last month.

Next month he will represent Great Britain at the 2011 Junior European Championships.
