Danum Eagles won 80-68 at Sheffield Hallam Sharks to continue their perfect start to life in the National League.
Victory means the Eagles are flying high at the top of Division Four (Midlands) with four wins out of four.
But the Doncaster club had to stave off a late fightback from the Sharks - the feeder team for the Sheffield Sharks franchise who play professionally in the BBL - to maintain their one hundred per cent record.
In a scrappy first quarter the Eagles managed to pull away in the final minute thanks to four quick points from Matt Wilson which gave the away side a 17-11 lead.
The second quarter was back and forth and despite six points in a row from George Colwill the Eagles could not stretch their lead, the half time score 39-34 in favour of the Eagles.
Colwill continued to impress in the third quarter, pouring in a further eight points as the Sharks could not find an answer for the former England youth international.
In the final quarter the Sharks rallied through player coach and former BBL star Atiba Lyons and the impressive Eddy Brownell who started to find their shooting touch to make it a nervy final few minutes for the Eagles.
Timely three pointers from Josh Metcalf and Tom Hodson subdued the Sharks’ comeback efforts, however, and the Eagles kept their cool at the free throw line to secure an 80-68 victory.
Points: Metcalf 17, Wilson 16, Colwill 14.
Eagles welcome TCAT Shropshire Warriors to Danum School on Saturday (1.30pm).
