The Askern 10k road race will celebrate its 30th birthday tonight.
The race is the youngest of the three promoted by Askern Running Club – the others being the Norton 9 and the Askern 10 - but it is the most popular in terms of numbers.
The club had received over 400 entries, with at least 100 expected to enter on the night.
“We are looking at well in excess of 500 runners again,” said club spokesman Mick Collingwood.
“Numbers of local runners are down on this time last year but we always get an influx on the night even though late entries don’t qualify for prizes.”
The race, which is contested over a flat course, starts at 7pm and finishes as usual at Askern MW.
