The annual ‘Hooked for Heroes’ match was fished this year by nearly 200 anglers at the Garbolino Lindholme Lakes in Epworth.

The event was fished over six lakes with the Laurels Lake proving to be a crowd-pleaser due to its room and spare pegs available.

The match was won from a unfancied peg on the Laurels with the winners thought to be coming off the in-form Beeches Lake.

Jane Hollings, one of a few women fishing, came a close seventh with 88lb 14oz.

The event was attended by some of the area’s injured war veterans and the match helped raise over £5,000 for the Help for Heroes Charity.

A race night in the clubhouse also raised more than £1,200 for the Ladies national team to help overseas costs.
