DONCASTER Plant Works’ Dave Allen produced a knockout performance to land the National Association of Boys’ Club Class C Under-91kg title at Harlow.

Producing the best performance of his career, Allen romped to a decisive 36-5 points victory over Welsh champion Lee Dixon (Llantwit).

“My lad completely dictated the bout from start to finish,” said Plant coach Ken Blood. “His defence was good and he also picked his punches but he never stopped throwing them.”

Plant Works’ schoolboy Andrew Coltman gave the Hexthorpe-based club a winning start to Friday’s Doncaster Lions’ dinner show at the Dome. He recorded an unanimous points win over Horden’s Charlie Holmes in their Under-51kg contest which launched the ten-fight bill.

Previously unbeaten stablemate Jimmy Flint suffered a majority points defeat in his Under-48kg clash against Rawthorpe’s Brian Jennings.

Plant’s Tom Bell picked up his ninth win in 12 bouts when beating Jake Jennings (Hillsborough) in their Under-47kg clash on a unanimous decision.

Jake Westlake (Plant) celebrated his second senior bout with a unanimous points win over John Sellars (Halifax) in their Under-65kg contest. James Mitchison suffered his second senior defeat in four bouts, going down to a majority defeat against Horden’s Ryan Mawson in their Under-75kg encounter.

Plant’s Marcus Weston notched a majority points win against Rawthorpe’s Adam Butterfield in a hard-hitting Under-74kg contest.
