Aiden Davies lands gold treble at AC Open

Great Britain U20 decathlete Aiden Davies took the honours in the junior men’s 100m at the Doncaster Athletic Club annual Open Meeting.

Davies romped to victory at a windswept Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday in a time of 10.9 seconds.

And he completed a sprint double when winning the junior 200m in a wind-assisted time of 22.3. Stothard (23.3) was second and Matthew Bubb (23.7) third.

The Doncaster star also took the honours in the junior javelin, throwing 34.02m.

Club mate Kye Stothard (28.47) was second and Matthew Bubb (25.44) third as the host club filled all three medal places.

Annie Mussett (13.0) took the honours in the girls’ U17 100m.

Alice Howe (12.5) also showed rivals a clean pair of heels in the junior 100m final. Nichole Norton (13.0) was second.

Steven Bellamy (11.3) earned Doncaster another sprint success in the U17 100m.

Megan Colbeck (12.5) claimed gold in the U15 100m, Sophie Mills (13.1) finishing third. Nichole Lannie (14.3) was third in the U13 100m.

Ava Jones (11.6) and (21.9) finished second in the girls’ U11 80m and 150m races respectively. Alicia Hodgson (11.7) was third in the shorter race.

Joshua Wilson won the boys’ U11 150m race in 22.20.

Howe (26.1) completed a sprint double when winning the junior 200m, Lucy Chappell (26.4) and Norton (27.5) were second and third respectively.

Sophie Moore (31.1) pipped team-mate Phoebe Ramsbottom (31.8) in the U17 race.

Anthony Browne was third in the men’s 400m, while Tom Matthewson (57.2) struck gold in the U17 race.

Molly Butterworth (2.31.8) finished second in the girls’ U15 800m. Callum Blackburn (2.31.8) finished second in the boys’ event and Nishan Singh (2.33.5) was third.

Callum Wilson headed a Doncaster 1-2-3 in the U17 mile race. Rhys Gibson was second and George Phillips third.

Other Doncaster success came in the girls’ U15 discus where Mollie Magee-Sharpe (28.19m) finished second, and the U15 long jump where Laura Chappell (4.34m) claimed a bronze medal.

Kayleigh Scott (3.92m) was second in the girls’ U17 long jump.

Kieran Grout (7.38m) won the boys’ U15 shot and finished second (23.70m) in the U17 javelin.

Other Doncaster medallists included Harry Houghton (3m) who was second in the boys’ U17.

The meeting attracted entries from nearly 30 clubs.
