ADWICK ASA continued to show their current strength in Doncaster swimming by winning the Bridon Shield Team Relay Championships.
Adwick’s B team also took fourth place, runners up spot went to Armthorpe Kingfishers and third to South Axholme Sharks.
The annual Doncaster Metropolitan Amateur Swimming Association (DMasa) event ran to a new revamped format with the aim of attracting a larger entry and creating a more exciting spectator experience.
Neil Stephenson, Adwick’s head coach, said: “Both sessions were exciting with some close finishes due to this year’s new format.
“It was nice to see more clubs entering teams.”
Armthorpe head coach Dave Holmes added: “This gala was a massive success.
“It flowed fairly well once it got going, the teams were loud and supportive, races were generally close and there was standing room only on the balcony.
“More of this in 2012 please.”
Final table: 1 Adwick A 470, 2 Armthorpe A 413, 3 S Axholme A 283, 4 Adwick B 151, 5 Spa Askern A 118, 6 Edlington A 100, 7 Marlins A 61, 8 Rossington A 60, 9 Armthorpe B 2.
