DONCASTER’S first ever appearance in the National Cup Final will live long in the memory, according to coach Leigh Hodgson.
Hodgson watched proudly from the sidelines on Saturday as his team went toe-to-toe with English Premier Division champions and reigning cup holders Beeston.
And the men from Town Field did not make it easy for their illustrious opponents - before two late goals sealed a 6-2 win and yet another trophy for the Nottinghamshire outfit.
Hodgson said: “We were delighted with our performance.
“We went down there out of hope rather than expectation.
“Unfortunately we weren’t able to pull off another shock result but all the guys fulfilled their potential both as a team and individually.”
