Massive medal haul for Doncaster athletes

NICOLE Bewley was the star turn for Doncaster Athletic Club at this month's Yorkshire County Championships - where the Keepmoat Stadium club celebrated a massive medal haul.

Bewley, competing in the Under 15 girls section, won gold in the 80m hurdles, collected silver in the javelin and long jump, and added bronze medals in the high jump and shot putt.

Under 17 competitor Kelly Bramhald also put in an impressive all-round display by collecting silvers in the javelin and shot putt, while also finishing second in the junior women's javelin event.

Liam Ramsay won gold in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.18, while Kye Stothard claimed gold in the 800m for U15 boys.

Silver medallists included Stephen Minnikin (men's hammer), Lewis Wilson (U17 pole vault), Ransford Anthony (U17 100m), Aiden Davies (U15 80m Hurdles), Ashley Langton (U15 200m) and Katherine Wilson (U20 pole vault).

Michael Hunter won bronze in the U17 triple jump, while Liam Ramsay also added a bronze to his collection by finishing third in the long jump.

Aiden Davies also took a bronze medal home from the high jump competition, Ashley Langton claimed a bronze in the U15 100m and Joe McGrath finished third in the U13 100m.

Lisa Revitt also won a bronze in the U20 100m hurdles.

More medals followed at the Nottinghamshire AAA County Championships at the Derby Moorways Stadium where Doncaster claimed golds on the track, in the javelin, high jump, triple jump, shot putt, discus and in the veterans event.

Under 15 entrant Alexander MacDonald claimed three of those golds in the high jump, triple jump and pole vault, along with a silver in the shot putt.

In the same age group Daniel Dale came first in the 100m and javelin, while Daniel Morris won gold in the shot putt and discus.

Peter Tallents prevailed in the 3000m race for seniors.
