Doncaster RLFC: Jordie Hedges eager to impress his visitors

Doncaster RLFC's Australian scrum-half Jordie Hedges can't wait to get back into action, not least to show his parents what he can do in the British game.

His parents, who are both rugby league fans, arrived on a surprise visit to the country to see him play in his first season at the League One club late last month.

“It’s been frustrating for them because they’ve not seen me play due to my three-match suspension.” said the young half-back.

“They’ve watched our last two games and been impressed with the standards over here and hopefully they’ll get the chance to see me play against Keighley at home on Sunday week before they fly home.”

But for Super 8s opener against York City Knights being postponed, Hedges would have been available for this weekend’s home game clash against unbeaten Toulouse.

It is a game which Hedges, who has been putting in extra sessions to keep his fitness levels up, would love to have played in.

Despite losing in Toulouse, and having to field a makeshift half-back partnership, Hedges claims the Dons can beat the full-time French side.

“They are very mobile and very fit but I think we can beat anyone on our day if we’ve got our best side out,” he said.

“It was good to see Jordan (Howden) back at Hunslet because he’s a very important player for us.

“Kieran Cross also came in for me and did a good job.”
