Same again as Knights hope to face London Welsh

Glen Kenworthy will make his return to the Knights starting XV at London Welsh.

Glen Kenworthy will make his return to the Knights starting XV at London Welsh.

DIRECTOR of rugby Brett Davey has named the same starting XV he would have selected had the London Welsh clash gone ahead as the Knights try again in the capital.

Davey has named the strongest possible starting XV at his disposal for Saturday’s game as he looks for revenge for the ‘disrespect’ he believes the Knights were shown by having the initial game called off with less than an hour’s notice.

The Knights will hope more foresight is shown this weekend to ensure they do not make an unnecessary journey to the capital.

Chris Planchant will switch to blindside flanker in the place of Andy Boyde while player-coach Glen Kenworthy will fill in at lock due to an injury to Matt Challinor.

The promising Jack Yeandle will come into the front row to replace Steve Boden at hooker while Tom Davies will go back into the starting line-up at loose head.

Crowd favourite Latu Makaafi has recovered from illness and will take his place on the bench.

The only change from Davey’s plans from last week sees Andy Boyde replace returnee Dan Smith on the bench.

David McIlwaine, PJ Gidlow and Tom Luke remain on the injury list with Challinor absent for a short period.

Knights to face London Welsh: 15 Dougie Flockhart; 14 Ben Toft; 13 Oli Goss; 12 Fred Burdon; 11 Michael Keating; 10 Mike Whitehead; 9 Chris Hallam; 1 Tom Davies; 2 Jack Yeandle; 3 Alex Brown; 4 Glen Kenworthy; 5 Dominic Parsons; 6 Chris Planchant; 7 Zack Farivarz; 8 Michael Noone.

Replacements: 16 Royce Burke-Flynn; 17 Steve Boden; 18 Andy Boyde; 19 Adam Kettle; 20 Latu Makaafi; 21 Michael Heaney; 22 Gareth Quinn-McDonogh.
