Will Bowler speaks to Doncaster Racecourse clerk of the course Roderick Duncan to get the latest news from Town Moor.

With the Sky Bet Chase sadly abandoned last weekend, the racing focus was at Cheltenham, where it was another day in the sun for trainer Malcolm Jefferson as his Cape Tribulation scored in the Argento Chase.

In an epic battle with Imperial Commander, back from a 680 day layoff, the northern raider wore his rival down to win by half a length. Both will return for the Gold Cup in March.

Reve De Sivola again showed he is back to his best when narrowly beating Oscar Whisky in the Cleeve Hurdle. Richard Johnson had to be at his strongest to hold off the late challenge of Nicky Henderson’s charge, who some thought would not stay beforehand. He certainly stayed, but connections are undecided as to his Festival target, en-route to a crack at a third Aintree Hurdle in April.

Sprinter Sacre once again showed his superiority over the two mile chase division with yet another scintillating performance in the re-arranged Victor Chandler Chase. At Fishers Cross yet again grew his reputation with a hard fought win over The New One in the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle.

Following the postponement of our last meeting we are staging an extra meeting at Doncaster on Monday afternoon when annual members of UK racecourses will be admitted free on production of valid annual membership badges.
