Golf weekly: Festive Day belongs to Chris

CHRIS Kenny-Day got in the festive spirit by winning the ladies’ Christmas competition at Doncaster Town Moor with 30 points, writes John Molloy.

Roger Greenwood was the clear winner of the Saturday Stableford with 41 points, followed by Ian Marshall and Ian Bentley.

The Sunday Betterball Stableford went to Paul Miller and Andre Hardisty with 45 points.

Second were Graham Wilsdon and Kev Morrow (44) with Jim Mackie and Shaun Roberts (43) third.

A busy week of ladies golf at Doncaster saw the Harlequin Stableford won by the team comprising Jill McGarvie, Bev Gallagher, and Carol Morris.

Their 58 points was enough to see off Sue Salmon, Kirsty Wilson and Gill Legard on countback.

The Monday Stableford had a clear winner in Jayne Daughtrey with 38 points, while Salmon, Ruth Hollings and Beryl Batchelor combined to win the Three-ball Am-Am Stableford with 78 points.

The Wednesday Stableford resulted in a tie on 32 points between Barbara Fox and Gill McGarvie.

In third place was Judith Fearns (31) with Julie Horncastle (30) fourth.

The mens’ Monday Stableford ended in a three-way tie on 37 points between Geoff Dukes, Tony Wesley and Bob Rawson.

Tied on 36 points for fourth place were John Haigh and Dinu Raithatha.

The Saturday Niblicks went to Tony Andrew whose 37 points left him well clear of Dave Parker on 33 points.

The Sunday Niblicks needed countback to separate David James in first place from John Haigh who both finished with 33 points. Tony Andrew (31) came third.

Tom Wood, Bob Berry and Pete Unwin all carded wins at Thornhurst in the Midweek Medal, Saturday and Sunday Stablefords respectively.

The Midweek Medal was won by Wood with a net 68.

Following on in second place on 72 was Steven Sanders with Colin Woodhouse third on 75.

The Saturday Stableford was a much closer affair with Berry on 38 points just edging out Tony Wood with 37. Third was Roy Reeves on 35.

The Sunday Medal also saw a close finish as Unwin with 67 just prevailed over Paul Curtiss who carded a 68.

A distant third was Paul Phillips with 73.
