Dearne & District came back twice to record a 5-3 win over Edlington Royals.
The women’s football duo drew 0-0 back in September but there was no chance of a repeat as an Emma Spencer curled effort put Edlington ahead in the fourth minute. Two late first half goals saw Rebeca Labella level for Dearne before Lauren Saunders restored Royals’ advantage.
The second half was less than 30 seconds old when Kayleigh Worrall pounced on poor defending for 2-2.
Then Labella, who earlier hit the bar, netted her second to put Dearne 3-2 up.
But Royals responded quickly with Dani Ebb equalising from a 35-yard free kick.
Labella was in devastating form in front of goal as she netted her hat trick to edge Dearne into a 4-3 lead and was later fouled for a penalty, however, Tracy Kilner’s spot-kick was saved by Amy Holliman.
Edlington’s reprieve was shortlived as Dearne made it 5-3 through Holmes.
Chelsea Baker had the chance to force a tense finish but also had her penalty saved by Megan Reece in the Sheffield and Hallam County League Division One encounter.
In Division Two there was a silver lining for Swinton Athletic who lost 10-0 at Oughtibridge.
It had been 18-0 to Oughtibridge - who top the table with six wins from six and a 68-0 scoring record from seven - when the teams met a week earlier.
Mexborough Athletic lost 6-1 at Sheffield Wednesday Development who have won all four to date.
