Balby Carr Community Sports College have the chance to retain the English Schools FA Under-18s Trophy against a familiar opponent following an emphatic 5-0 win over Thomas Telford School, writes Hayley Paterson.
The prolific Doncaster outfit, who clinched a 2-0 final win over Thurstable School in last year’s final, are now gearing up to face Reading’s John Madejski Academy in March, at Coventry City’s Ricoh Arena.
Two-time champions Balby beat this year’s fellow finalists four years ago to lift the prestigious trophy.
The side, who were also runners-up in the competition in 2011, booked their final spot thanks to a double apiece from Jess Heald and Leah Hardy as well as an Ellie Chandler strike.
Football academy coach Steve Spittlehouse said: “The girls are really excited for the final, they really do deserve to be there.
“It means a lot to the players, particularly those who didn’t get to feature in last year’s win because they will have a chance to make an impact this time around. We can’t wait.”
