SKIPPER Brian Stock is facing up to SIX months out with an ankle injury.

The 29-year-old is expected to miss the first few months of the new Championship season after undergoing surgery this week.

Rovers’ medical staff have been working with Stock over the course of the last campaign, trying to strengthen his problematic ankle.

But the Welsh international was left with no alternative but to go under the knife - and is now facing a lengthy spell of rehabilitation.

Defender George Friend, meanwhile, should return to pre-season training in July on time after having a hernia operation earlier in the week.
