El Hadji Diouf has been accused of spitting at Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks during a furious tunnel bust-up.

Diouf beat Gilks from the penalty spot with a cheeky chip in Rovers’ 3-1 defeat to the Tangerines on Tuesday night.

The goal sparked some pushing and shoving between the Senegalese striker and Blackpool’s keeper before both players had to be separated in the tunnel at half time.

Blackpool’s two-goal hero Gary Taylor-Fletcher has claimed Diouf spat towards Gilks as the players made their way to the dressing rooms.

Taylor-Fletcher said: “Everyone knows what he [Diouf] was like. He was back to his antics of spitting again.

“But we got the three points and that is the only thing you can say to him really.

“He was the same when we played against Blackburn,” added Taylor-Fletcher.

“He is a great player and it is just a shame he has that side to him.”

Diouf was charged and banned for spitting offences while playing for Liverpool and Bolton between 2002 and 2004.

He was found guilty of spitting at fans on two occasions and then at Portsmouth’s Arjan de Zeeuw.

A Rovers spokesman said: “We have no comment to make other than there was no incident reported to the club after the game.”
