Doncaster Rovers sound battle cry
Hull City v Doncaster Rovers. Martin Woods
YOUR football club needs you!
That is the message from everyone involved at Doncaster Rovers ahead of Reading’s visit to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.
Rovers go into the game still five points adrift of safety and on the back of yet another chaotic week in the club’s colourful history.
To compound the resignations of mega-rich board members Dick Watson and Terry Bramall which were announced last week, Rovers icon Billy Sharp joined Championship high-flyers Southampton on Monday to cap a miserable few days at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The battling performance from Dean Saunders’ men at Hull on Tuesday night, when Rovers ended a run of six straight away defeats by grinding out a goalless stalemate, defied that of a club in any sort of crisis.
But today in the Free Press, Rovers chairman John Ryan, manager Dean Saunders and fans’ representative Gareth Thomas all sound a rallying cry to the town’s population to support the club in their hour of need - and help keep Doncaster in the Championship.
