Doncaster Rovers: Rovers chief executive Baldwin ‘target for Forest’

CHIEF executive Gavin Baldwin could be a target for Championship moneybags Nottingham Forest, it has emerged.

However, Rovers insist there has been no contact between the two clubs and said in a statement that high flyer Baldwin was going nowhere.

According to Star sources, Baldwin is in the running to replace Mark Arthur, who parted company with Forest last week following a 13-year stay at the club.

Forest’s Kuwaiti owners, the Al Hasawi family, also sacked head of recruitment Keith Burt and club ambassador Frank Clark as part of a top tier shake-up.

Former rugby star Baldwin’s reputation has blossomed in footballing circles during a short but eventful period with Rovers and is thought to be on Forest’s wanted list.

But Rovers say the former council chief is staying put.

In a statement Rovers said: “There has been no contact from Nottingham Forest with regards to our chief executive Gavin Baldwin.

“Gavin is happy at Doncaster Rovers and we fully expect him to remain at the club.”

Baldwin has proven to be a popular addition to Rovers’ backroom team particularly among supporters, opening up several communication channels and operating proactively with fans’ groups since his full time appointment in May last year.

His three-year business plan has helped the club recover quickly from last season’s relegation from the Championship, which saw the club forced to slash its £9 million wage bill by almost two thirds.

Baldwin has also laid out plans to renovate the Keepmoat Stadium, now under Rovers’ ownership, and develop a ‘Sporting Club of Doncaster’ model that could potentially change the face of sport in the town.

The ex-assistant director at Doncaster Council replaced Dave Morris, who departed Rovers last March.

He is also the former chief executive of the Keepmoat Stadium and The Dome.
