DONCASTER ROVERS: ‘I might play Jones up front’, says Saunders

CAPTAIN fantastic Rob Jones could switch from centre back to centre forward on a more permanent basis, according to boss Dean Saunders.
Jones’ second goal in Doncaster Rovers colours came in dramatic fashion at Victoria Park on Saturday, the giant defender heading home Kyle Bennett’s perfect cross in the dying moments of a hard fought 1-1 draw.
As has been the case several times this season, Jones spent the closing stages of the game as an emergency centre forward as Rovers threw the kitchen sink at Pools in an attempt to get back on level terms.
And after watching his influential skipper deliver another effective display in both penalty boxes, Saunders says the former Sheffield Wednesday defender could provide him with an interesting selection dilemma.
“He gets on the end of things - I might play him up there,” said Saunders
“I think it was Rob Jones versus Hartlepool for the last ten minutes!
“He’s a great lad,” he added.
“He’s got a great attitude and you want him in the trenches with you.”
