DAVID Williams has been appointed Rovers’ new assistant manager.

The former Bristol Rovers and Norwich midfielder is reunited with Brian Flynn after assisting him at international level with Wales.

Williams has coached at Newport County, Bournemouth, Everton, Leeds United and Manchester United.

He returned to Norwich to manage the youth academy in 2004.

Flynn said: “I have worked closely with David for a long time, he was my assistant when I was manager of the Welsh youth teams.

“We go back a long way and we complement each other.

“David has vast experience and knowledge, and his coaching techniques are quality.”

Williams’ arrival should ease the burden on player coach Rob Jones, allowing him to concentrate on playing.
