Doncaster Rovers: Barker demands more from signings

CRAWLEY boss Richie Barker says his side have matters ‘to put right’ when they host Rovers tonight.

Former Rotherham striker Barker was disappointed with the Red Devils’ performance in the 2-1 defeat at a rejuvenated Scunthorpe United last weekend.

And the 37-year-old is expecting to see more from his January signings in tonight’s televised game.

Barker said: “The players all accept they didn’t perform at Scunthorpe to the standard they know they can or what I expect from them.

“We have to put that right.

“It’ll have been nine days since that game by the time we play Doncaster so we’ve been stewing on the result a little bit.

“But I do expect a positive response.

“The January signings have had more time to integrate into the framework and pattern of play.

“That’s been important because we’ll not be spending much time on the training field afterwards because of the number of games we have got coming up.”

The Sheffield-born boss says his side will need to match Rovers physically tonight in what he terms a big game.

Barker said: “Doncaster are a physically strong and big side so we are going to have to match them in that regard.

“Swindon were similar to that a fortnight ago and we coped with them well in that facet of the game.

“Doncaster have consistently been in and around the top six this season so we know it’s going to be tough.

“This club are in League One to play in occasions like tonight, in front of a live TV audience against a club who were in the Championship last season.”
