Coppinger's season in doubt after injury blow
JAMES Coppinger could miss the rest of the season after suffering a fractured cheekbone at Bristol City.
The Rovers midfielder was involved in a hefty clash with City's Yannick Bolasie and was subsequently withdrawn with just 17 minutes of the game gone.
Coppinger was taken to hospital during the 2-1 defeat and confirmed later on Twitter he had suffered a fracture.
He wrote: “Thanks for all get well soon tweets. Hopefully be back soon (fractured cheekbone). See the specialist on Monday.”
A frustrated Rovers boss Dean Saunders, after watching a video of the incident, said: "James Coppinger looks like he might be out for the season with a fractured cheekbone.
"It's an absolutely outrageous headbutt, late and the referee has not even spoken with the lad."
