Paul Dickov handed Marc De Val his first start for Rovers as they get set to go again at The Valley after the game in August was called off due to a waterlogged pitch with Rovers 3-1 up.

The Spanish midfielder came in for the suspended Dean Furman who is serving a one match ban following his dismissal against Yeovil on Friday night.

Billy Paynter also came into the side to partner Federico Macheda in attack.

Martin Woods, who returned to the club on non-contract terms on Monday, was named on the bench.

Rovers are currently missing nine players through injury and suspension.

For hosts Charlton, Yan Kermorgant returned to the starting XI in place of Bradley Pritchard.

Rovers went behind six minutes before half-time. Dale Stephens pounced for the home side with what must be one of the goals of the season in the Championship, firing in with a 30 yard volley.

Macheda shot over as Rovers looked to get level.

It got worse for Rovers on the hour mark when Simon Church made it 2-0 to Charlton.
