Rossington Main’s NCEL Division One match at home to Shirebrook Town had to be abandoned last night due to a serious injury.

Main’s Leon Cusworth was taken to hospital after a clash of heads with a Shirebrook player.

The club confirmed this morning he had suffered a fractured sinus but added there is no sign of any neck fracture.

Rossington manager Chris Glarvey told www.thebootifulgame.co.uk: “Leon went in for a header just before half time and unfortunately clashed heads with their striker.

“He initially won the header but his forehead clattered the back of his.

“We knew that he was going to have to go to hospital straight away as he started feeling dizzy and sick with a badly bruised forehead.

“Our assistant Ben Scott is a nurse and I must say he was very good in calming him down.

“He was down for around 45 minutes so in my opinion the referee made the correct decision in abandoning the game.”

The scoreline was 1-1 before the match was abandoned after 44 minutes.

Rossington won 4-0 at home to East Yorkshire Carnegie on Saturday and are unbeaten in three league games.
