Rossington Main get the second half of the season underway with the visit of Eccleshill United to Oxford Street this weekend, writes Paul Webster.

Steve Brennan’s side have not won at home since beating Grimsby Borough 4-0 in mid-October.

In the six games since they have taken just one point from league outings as well as going out of both the Sheffield Senior Cup and League Cup on their own patch.

Eccleshill have won on their last two visits to Oxford Street and Main will not want reminding that the West Yorkshire romped to a 7-1 victory in the corresponding fixture last term.

Rossington’s last triumph over Eccleshill was in August 2012 when goals from Jamie Green, Lee Holmes and Ben Hunter saw Main run out 3-0 winners.

With three of the five games during January at Oxford Street against teams that Main ought to be picking up points, Brennan will see it as an opportunity to push up the table from the current 17th position out of 22 teams.

After the visit of Eccleshill, the next home game in a fortnight’s time is against Winterton Rangers who currently sit third bottom but just a point behind Rossington.

Mid-table Selby Town are the visitors at the end of the month.
