Four goals in each half saw Doncaster Belles’ under-15s take the spoils against Wombwell and move to the top of the table, writes Nigel Watson.

After an even opening period, Wombwell thought they had opened the scoring after an indirect free-kick sailed into the net without anyone getting a touch.

Naomi Oldridge opened the scoring, firing home from the edge of the penalty area, then Fliss Hannington scored from a corner.

A quick-fire double from Kelsey Douglas completed the scoring for the first half in the Sheffield and Hallamshire encounter.

In the second half, Wombwell’s goalkeeper gave a great display but was left exposed as Jess Hassall bagged a brace as she volleyed home and added a close range finish.

Phoebe Sneddon also headed in a fine cross and Chloe Dean volleyed into the back of the net from a corner to complete the scoring.
