Doncaster Senior League: Sutton hit Armthorpe for six

Sutton Rovers threw down the gauntlet to their Doncaster Senior League Premier Division rivals when handing out a 6-1 beating to Armthorpe Markham Main on the opening day of the season, writes Steve Hossack.

Callum Stockton led the way with a hat trick and there were strikes from Chris Hancock, Thomas Clamp and Luke Chambers.

Doncaster Deaf Trust suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Hemsworth MW, for whom Lee Wagstaff and Ryan Ball netted.

Ross Johnson was the Frickley Colliery marksman in their 1-1 draw at Kinsley Boys.

Thomas Shaw’s goal helped secure South Elmsall United Services a point from a 1-1 draw against visiting Rossington MW.

Brodsworth Welfare had to settle for a consolation goal by Michael Church when kicking off their Division One campaign with a 2-1 home defeat against South Kirkby Colliery.

Ryan Davies weighed in with a hat trick as Dunscroft United posted a 5-2 win over visiting Bawtry Town. Danny Smith and Jamie Hindson also chipped in with goals for the winners.

FC Central also got their campaign off to a winning start with a 4-2 success over visiting Harworth Colliery.

Denaby United, whose first team have moved on after winning last season’s Premier Division title, claimed a 3-1 win at MLB Academy.

Scawthorpe Rhinos charged to a 5-2 win over Valley Knights.

Nathan Wroe and Ryan Walker both bagged a brace for the home side with Torran Adams also getting in on the act. Michael Goddard and William Snow replied for the Knights.
