Belles’ league-winning under-15s made it four wins in a season over their closest rivals Sheffield Wednesday - but they had to come back from 2-0 down, writes Nigel Watson.
A poor first half showing from Doncaster saw Sheffield soar into a deserved lead when a strong header came back off the crossbar and the rebound was forced home.
Doncaster nearly drew level when a couple of crosses just evaded the on-rushing forwards but with no further goals, Wednesday went into half time with their 1-0 lead intact.
In the opening minutes of the second half the visitors went 2-0 up following a quick break and a volley into the net.
However, this goal seemed to galvanise the Belles as they began to pile on the pressure in the hope of salvaging something from the game.
And they did just that as two quick goals got the hosts level. They came from a strong Toyah Perry header and a powerful Kirsty Nelthorpe shot.
The visitors defended well but soon tired from their efforts as Kelsey Douglas volleyed in from outside the penalty area and a brave header over the on-rushing ‘keeper from Jess Hassall completed the scoring (4-2), preserving their 100 per cent record.
This weekend sees Doncaster in their league cup final against Wickersley.
