Atletico Tap Maker were on cloud nine after putting Premier Division strugglers Auckley to the sword.

However, the 2013 champions continue to play catch up in the 2014/15 title race.

Dean Wilburn led the way with a hat trick as Atletico cruised to a fourth league win of the season.

Brett Lucas, Liam Nelthorpe, James Naylor, Chris Freeman, Robert Allan and Ash Hunter also found the net.

Atletico made the perfect start when Naylor latched onto a Wilburn through ball to score in the first minute.

Nelthorpe scored his first for the club on 13 minutes when he fired home from 25 yards, and two minutes later Wilburn hit the goal of the game as he curled in a tremendous 30-yard effort.

Two close range finishes saw Wilburn complete his hat trick and there was still time before the break for the club’s leading all-time scorer Allan, Freeman and then Lucas to make it 8-0 before the break.

Auckley to their credit performed much better after the interval but a 74th minute strike from Hunter was the only further addition to the scoresheet.

Fifth-placed Atletico remain 11 points behind unbeaten leaders Canal Tavern who ran out 4-0 winners over bottom of the table Graceholme.

Scott Rhodes bagged a brace, while Glen Hookway and Sean McCarthy also netted.

Bentley Top Club stay second after beating top-four rivals FC Glasshouse 1-0, while Eden Grove and Wheatsheaf (Josh Blenkinron) battled out a 1-1 draw. Rhino’s beat visiting Toll Bar 3-0.

Armthorpe Village booked their place in the third round of the Ernie Prince KO Cup.

Village, who are propping up Division One, saw off the challenge of Division Two strugglers Scawthorpe FC (6-2) thanks to doubles from Nathan Powney, Steven Wagstaff and Chris Passmore.

Dave Swift claimed the two consolation goals.
