Edenthorpe Juniors under 14s are celebrating promotion to the Premier Division after a 5-1 win over South Kirkby Knights Red on Sunday.
Harry Dunbar struck all five goals to seal top spot in Division One as Edenthorpe celebrated their second promotion in two years to reach the top flight.
They are nine points clear in top spot with only two games left to play, having lost just twice in 16 games.
Manager Darren Forster says his team have come a long way over the last three years, since they were sitting bottom of Division Two and struggling to field a full team.
He said: “With great facilities including the John Howard pavilion - which includes four changing rooms, a kitchen, showers and officials room and a good committee - it wasn’t long before I realised here is an opportunity to help the local team, and try and develop them as players and people.
“With all the support of the club and parents and a structured training programme, the team managed to get promoted last season.
“This attracted a few new players, and with a mix of hard training along with the nucleus of original players, things went from strength to strength.
“The journey hasn’t been easy and has had a few ups and downs along the way.
“But with great spirit and good results they have gone on to win back-to-back promotions, winning the league with two games to spare.
“I really feel proud of all the lads and believe the whole club is heading in the right direction and is the pride of the community.”
Edenthorpe’s remaining two games are against Mexborough and Tickhill - two teams who are not yet safe from relegation.
