Two quickfire second half goals saw Rossington Main defeat Hemsworth Miners Welfare 2-0 and earn their tenth win out of 14 in the league.

Steve Brennan’s men edged in front on 52 minutes. Lee Holmes won the ball on the right before crossing for Tom Bennett to head home.

Holmes was involved again as Rossington went 2-0 up six minutes later.

The assistant manager struck a fine shot that the Hemsworth goalkeeper could only parry and Nathan Fraser reacted quickest to clip the loose ball over the keeper.

Armthorpe Welfare came away from Staveley Miners Welfare with a creditable point from a 1-1 draw but will be a disappointed not to have completed a league double over their hosts after working hard to get their noses in front.

Brian Johnston’s side went ahead on 34 minutes when Kieran Benson nodded home from close range.

However, the joy was short lived as Armthorpe were caught napping a minute later when Josh Scully found a yard of space to strike a fine effort into the top corner.

Maltby Main saw their three-match winning run ended with a 2-0 home defeat against in-form Brighouse Town at Muglet Lane.
