HOLDERS Yorkshire Main successfully defended their Doncaster and District FA Challenge Cup crown following a close contest with Denaby United at Rossington.

The Central Midlands League outfit were tested by United but the game was settled by a solitary goal a few minutes after the interval when Luke Hinsley broke the deadlock.

Reigning Premier Division champions AFC Sportsman Rovers went down 2-1 at league leaders Sutton Rovers in the Premier Disivion.

Sutton now require just one more point from their remaining two games to be crowned champions.

They were in action last night against Rossington Main.

Tom Salt was twice on target for Bramley Sunnyside as they beat Hatfield Main 5-0.

Ian Donnelly, Ben Walker and Jordan Walker completed the nap hand.

Hemsworth Town followed up a 4-2 victory over Brodsworth Welfare in midweek with a 3-3 draw at South Elmsall United Services.

Lee Dawes, Wayne Harratt, Kyle Lacy and Andrew Lowe were the Town marksmen against Brodsworth.

Harratt scored twice and Lacy once for Hemsworth at Services, who responded with a brace by Steve Nutter and a goal from Andrew Brown.

The encounter was a rehearsal for the Premier Division KO Cup Final between South Elmsall and Hemsworth, which will be played at Yorkshire Main’s ground tomorrow night (7pm).

Ben Pearson bagged a hat trick for Shafton Villa when they won 5-1 at ISG Doncaster in Division One.

James Thompson and Ryan Butcher also found the net.
