Armthorpe Welfare were hit by a first half goal salvo as Maltby Main emerged as 4-1 winners over Des Bennett’s side at Muglet Lane, WRITES PAUL WEBSTER.
Below par Welfare could have few complaints as Maltby, who were beaten 7-1 in the corresponding fixture earlier in the season, ran out deserved winners.
Armthorpe went behind on 12 minutes when Sam Foulds was gifted possession and he drilled in a low shot past Jamie Green.
Maltby then all but sealed the points with a three-goal blast just before the break.
Foulds rifled in from the edge of the area to double the advantage on 38 minutes, and two minutes later Greg Mason made it 3-0 from the penalty spot.
Shell-shocked Welfare then found themselves four down before the break when Foulds completed his hat trick from close range.
Bennett’s men did pull one back on 62 minutes when James Walker found the net with a low shot but it proved to be no more than a consolation effort.
