DONCASTER Belles have signed former England basketballer Leandra Little from Lincoln Ladies.

The 27-year-old defender’s arrival follows hard on the heels of the club’s eye-catching move for England star Sue Smith.

Belles assistant boss Paul Green said: “Lea is a good defender who performed consistently well last season and, along with the likes of Sue Smith, will add some much needed experience to the squad for the forthcoming campaign.

“Lea will add height and strength to our back four.

“She is equally at home playing at centre back or right back.

“Defensively we need to improve from last season and feel that the acquisition of Lea is a good start towards doing that.”

Former basketball star Little came into football in 2007 and impressed at the back for Lincoln as they chased promotion from the FA Northern Division.

She was also named as the Lady Imps’ Manager’s Player of the Year for her performances during the inaugural FA Women’s Super League season.
