Carpenters close the gap

WINDMILL stay top of Division Two of the Doncaster Sunday Alliance League despite going down 3-0 at Brodsworth United.

Jack Wheat, Carl Reade and Darren Bird shared out the goals.

But second-placed Carpenters Arms, who have two game in hand, closed to within two points of the leaders with a 4-1 win at Glad Old Boys. Simon Robertshaw and Andrew Welsh shared the four goals with Chris Levers claiming the Boys’ consolation.

Third-placed Armthorpe Albion received a walkover against HPK. Fourth-placed Edlington Top Club boosted their title prospects with a 4-1 win at Wadworth Sports. Mark Smith (2), Aiden Ford and Daniel Edgecombe all found the net. Josh Rowley replied.

Rosehill Press (David Wheatley, Robert Lee) and AFC Cusworth (Dan Robinson 2) battled out a 2-2 draw.

Division Three leaders Balby Academy of Sport had their shooting boots on when winning 7-1 away at Horse & Groom Town.

Jordan Lewis notched a hat-trick with Keiran Ferguson (2), Simon Manterfield and Razzaq Ahmed also chipping in with goals. John Geddes was the Town marksman. Second-placed Leger Lions had to work harder for the spoils (3-2) away at Tank.

Third-placed Maltings lost ground after going down 2-0 at Grove Carvery, who climbed several places to fourth.

Ingram Arms, for whom Luke Hedley, Brenden Jeffrey (2) and Martin Walker all netted, are now up to fifth after winning 4-0 at Armthorpe Village.

White Hart Colts lost 1-0 at bottom club Hatfield Chace, who picked up only their second win of the season.

Hatfield Woodhouse beat Division Four visitors 4-2 with Hesley posting a 4-1 win over Harvester. Karl Lang scored the winner for Rossington United in their 1-0 success over Catholic Club.

Goals by James Stuart and James Sharp secured Bessacarr a 2-0 win at The Glasshouse.

Balby Rec (Robert Shaw, Steven Hogg), battled out a 2-2 Division Five draw with visiting M25 (Michael Hemsworth, David Baker). Ashley Darville, Peter Brown and an own goal earned Crown Hotel a 3-1 win at Barnby Dun All Stars. Craig Dallas notched all three goals in FC Ivanhoe’s 3-2 win over The Askern.

Inter Debs romped to a 7-1 win over the New Railway Tavern. Richard Crawforth and Paul Nicholson both bagged a brace. Scott Maughan and Eric McMillan earned Walton Wanderers a 2-2 draw at home to The Vault. Mark Pearson was Willaspoons’ hat-trick hero in their 6-3 win over Rossington Poacher. Paul Kostyzyn (2) and Billy Kirkham also netted.
