League leaders and champions elect Bottesford MHM arrived in Epworth on the back of a 54 match unbeaten run in the league - with the under-13s Colts clinching a huge victory.
A magnificent defensive display by Colts rearguard of keeper George Moore, Cam Young, Dan Brewer, Frazer Horsfield and Jack Gregory kept the Bottesford strikers at bay.
Chances were at a minimum with Colts Strikers Ben Carson and Bobby Foster unable to break through a tight Bottesford defence.
A quick break by Bottesford saw a shot on goal superbly cleared off the line by Brewer, the first half ending 0-0.
The second half saw Colts take control of the game with midfielders Jordan Jenkinson, Mitch Fulwood, Liam Norton, Ciaran Hazel and Ritchie Burdett outplaying their opposite numbers.
The game looked to be heading for a 0–0 draw before a corner from Burdett saw the Bottesford defence unable to clear as the ball fell to Young who slammed in what was to prove, the match winner.
A superb all round performance saw Colts end Bottesford’s long unbeaten run.
Manager Steve Brewer could have handed out 13 man of the match awards but for an outstanding display of defensive work – Jack Gregory was given the honour.
